CASE STUDIES:

City of Atlantic City
Severe ocean winds, salt air and intense sun exposure took its toll on fabric banners used in the city. The city did not favor the look of smooth vinyl banners, but agreed to compromise and test our recommendation of vinyl coated mesh material. They've been using mesh banners for over a year now and the city is overwhelmingly pleased with their appearance and durability.

Philadelphia International Airport
The airport likes the movement of fabric banners with a tie-off at the bottom, rather than a support pole. Wind tunnels caused the standard Velcro attachment in the banner sleeve to break free and the standard D-ring tie-off to rip out prematurely. Our suggestion was a reinforced grommet attachment in the top sleeve and a 1/4" nylon roped heading sewn to the side of the banner wrapped around a galvanized thimble at the tie-off point. The rope installation spread the stress of the tie-off down the side of the banner rather than all at the tie-off point.

Drexel University- Chinese President Visit
We received a phone call from Drexel University in November 1997 desperately in need of banners to welcome the President of China who was speaking at the University. We had one week to produce 59 appliqué and screenprinted banners of different types ranging in sizes up to 20' x 30'. Swirling Silks rose to the challenge. The artwork for all of the banners wasn't even finished when we received the initial call and we had only two days to produce some of the banners. Our performance on this job resulted in many future banner orders from Drexel.

U.S. OpenU.S. Open Golf Tournament
The USGA needed a 35' high three-sided "banner tower" to showcase the location of the U.S. Open Merchandise tent (over 15,000 sq. ft.). The tower consisted of three 35' long aluminum poles and three 20' high x 10' wide nylon banners. They were specially designed to withstand high winds in an area with crowded pedestrian traffic. The banners were rigged so they could be lowered quickly in an emergency situation, such as severe weather. The poles were constructed in sections for easy shipping and storage.

Volvo of N.A.
To highlight selected vehicles, we custom designed a 15" flag holder with a scratch-proof, magnetic base to be placed on car roofs. A selection of colored flags was included with each unit. We individually packed and labeled each unit in kits for distribution.
